Designated one of Mayor Garcetti’s “Great Streets”, the 1-mile stretch of Venice Blvd between Inglewood Bl – Beethoven St. will be transformed by its current theme, VERTICAL! It's all about Venice board sports - skateboarding and surfing - and our Mar Vista/Venice connection to Dogtown and ZBoyz.
Get your garden ready for summer veggies! Even though it’s a grey May, and June gloom’s just ahead, there's still time to get that summer garden going. And the UC/CE LA County Master Gardeners will be handing out their lovingly-grown seedlings and seeds — all for FREE!
Join them on SUNDAY, May 27 from, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and bring your garden questions and dreams. Click here to see what they'll be giving away.Read More »
The Mar Vista Green Garden Showcase returns! It’s exciting to see what we’ve already achieved with our past Showcases…and with two years off to recharge our creative batteries, we’re coming back on Saturday, April 28, 10am - 4pm, stronger than ever.
Sustainable gardening, our mandate since the Showcase was conceived by the Mar Vista Community Council Green Committee in 2009, has always been at the heart of our event. Even though our recent Winter rainfall has done much to alleviate our immediate drought crisis, please don’t be lulled into thinking that plentiful rainfall will continue. The need for sustainable practices in our gardens and the thirst for information on how to convert lawns into beautiful, sustainable and environment-friendly retreats continues. For the homeowners in the Mar Vista Green Garden Showcase, water conservation is a way of life.
The Mar Vista Community Council has two open volunteer positions: that of At-Large Director and Zone 3 Director. We seek to fill the postions in accordance with Section 6 of our by-laws.
Persons who are interested in applying for the position must write a statement of candidacy, submitted by Friday, April 6th, 2018 at 12pm. Email statements to the Chair, at Rob.Kadota@marvista.org. The names of those submitting statements will be placed on the agenda of the April 10th, 2018 Board meeting. Candidates are encouraged to make a statement at that meeting in support of their candidacy. After that, the Chair shall appoint one candidate and the Board will vote.Read More »
